The GAMBIA

Missions Report From The Gambia (2013).

Particularly in the area of finance, we are facing significant challenges. For instance, one of our disciples almost returned to his former faith due to family pressure, as we were unable to meet his familyโ€™s needs at a critical moment.

We thank God for the help and strength He has given us to serve Him on this field. The challenges are great, but we have a God who is greater than any challenge. The forces of evil are fighting hard to discourage, overwhelm, and scare us away from the Master’s work, but our hands are on the ploughโ€”there is no going back.

Grace & Glory Mission Visit:
In June, we hosted a two-member team from Grace and Glory Ministries based in Lagos. We held a Mission Summit in Serekunda (where our office is located) and conducted mission outreaches in Memmeh and Aljamduh villages in the North Bank Region. The missionaries were strengthened by the summit, and souls were saved in both villages through the evangelistic outreaches.

Youth Leadership/Discipleship Class:
We have started weekly leadership training for indigenous youth with leadership potential. Our vision is to plant the seed of leadership in the upcoming leaders of the Body of Christ in The Gambia. We began with 16 participants, and the enthusiasm they have shown in attending the weekly training is very encouraging.

During one of our mission trips to Guinea-Bissau, I felt burdened to gather church leaders for prayer and fasting. About 30 leaders were mobilized, and God truly manifested Himself. However, just a week after that meeting, rebels struck again in an attempt to destabilize the nation and plunge it into another civil war. Government soldiers overpowered themโ€”several were killed and others arrested. Church leaders gave thanks to God for the meeting, believing our cries to God helped preempt that satanic onslaught. Guinea-Bissau has never known true peace since independence. All glory be to Jesus.

Office Activity:
Our weekly intercession for the nations continues smoothly. We serve as intercessors for the land, and God consistently encourages us as we see the results of our labor in prayer. Our government is performing reasonably well, making efforts to maintain the nationโ€™s secularity despite an 85% Muslim population and to keep militants from causing havoc. Glory be to God.

We also receive invitations to bless the Body of Christ and mobilize them to finish the task.

Our Challenges:
Join us in praying to the Lord of the harvest to raise more laborers and partners to support the work.

PRAYER POINTS:

  1. Thank God for all He has done for us and through us in this North/West Africa region.
  2. Ask God to help us establish a lasting landmark for Him in this nation. This is our 14th year in The Gambia, yet we often feel we have done nothing.
  3. Pray for our converts scattered across the nation due to work, marriage, or even those who have returned to Islam. Ask the Holy Spirit never to leave them alone.
  4. Pray that God raises leaders from among the youth we are training. Pray for deep conviction and total surrender to God in their lives.
  5. There is a revival among Muslims worldwide. Pray for the accurate knowledge of God to be disseminated among Christians in this nation.
  6. Ask God to scatter the rebels in northern Mali. They have overthrown legitimate authority in that region, creating a safe haven for terrorist groups whose agenda is to unleash terror on West African nations and impose their religion. They were rumored to be behind the recent attack on an armory in Guinea-Bissau.
  7. Please pray for The Gambiaโ€”that its peace will be sustained. Ask God to frustrate every plan of anarchists and extremists to destabilize this nation.
  8. Pray for tired and discouraged missionaries, that God would encourage them and their families.
  9. Many churches claiming to do missions are engaged in nothing but money-making and Ponzi schemes, exploiting media and IT to deceive many locals. Pray that the activities of these false workers will come to an end.
